COMMON HOUSE SOCIAL CLUB / CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA - 2017

Common House is a social club housed in one of Charlottesville’s original communal spaces: Mentor Lodge. A “down to the studs” renovation and the addition of new construction combine to create nearly 7,000 s.f. of interior space. The club offers patrons a variety of amenities including co-work space, a roof terrace, a wood burning fireplace, billiards, two bars and a full-service commercial kitchen. The original exterior envelope is repointed and re-plastered and the new interventions are more materially expressive and crisply detailed. This juxtaposition allows for the formation of distinct and unique spaces while affording the flexibility of an open plan to foster social interaction.

Recipient of the ‘Outstanding Sustainable Development Award’ presented by the Charlottesville Planning Commission - 2017
